Operation Shangri-La — Our Longest-Running Community Programme
Since 2002, X-Trekkers has returned again and again to the same corner of the Tibetan world — the highlands of Diqing, around Shangri-La in northwest Yunnan, China. What began as a community-service expedition has grown into a 20+ year relationship with mountain villages that most travellers never reach.
This is honest give-back travel. The reward is proportional to the effort, the comforts are few, and the point is to leave something genuinely useful behind — clean water, a classroom, a repaired trail — while experiencing a corner of the world that changes you.
Clean Water & Infrastructure

Operation Tashi Deleg — The Living Continuation
The present-day form of Operation Shangri-La is Operation Tashi Deleg (OTD) — our annual community-development expedition in a remote Tibetan village in Diqing, officially supported by Raleigh Singapore.
OTD runs on a community-first basis: the focus is play, learning, and the connection between parents, children, and the wider community. It is a commitment, not a holiday — and it is the truest expression of what we stand for.
