Friction on the fabric surface may result in pilling. If this occurs, use a fabric shaver to remove the pills.
Tips from X-Boundaries
- Grid fleece is the one to reach for when you are moving. The interior grid traps warm air in the channels while the gaps let sweat out — it breathes far better than a flat fleece of the same weight.
- At 286 g it is the lightest hooded fleece we stock from Montbell, which makes it the realistic one to actually carry on a shoulder-season trek rather than leave at the hotel.
- The hard face slides under a shell instead of grabbing at it. Buy it as a mid-layer first; it works as an outer on mild days.
- Pilling is normal on grid fleece where pack straps rub. A cheap fabric shaver takes it off and the garment is unaffected.
- Asian sizing runs smaller than European or US. If you are between sizes, come in and try one — we hold stock at both stores.

This is to replace what I’d lost on a recent trip. The goretex works very well, shielded me from sudden downpour. The cap is also very fitted for me, not all caps can do. Though the price here in SG is $20 more than what I got from Japan but it’s worth the buy!
