Care & Maintenance

Down needs a little care and very little washing.

• Wash only at the end of the season. Frequent washing shortens the life of an ultralight shell
• Use a down-specific detergent — never ordinary laundry liquid, and never fabric softener
• Cold water, gentle cycle or hand wash. Do not bleach, do not iron
• Tumble dry on low heat if you have a dryer; otherwise hang away from direct sunlight and be patient — down takes hours
• Patting the garment as it dries helps restore loft
• Store it loose, not compressed. Months in a stuff sack flatten down permanently

160 g. That is the whole argument. It is lighter than the water bottle you are already carrying, and it turns an over-air-conditioned office, a night bus and a cold Kyoto morning into non-problems.

Diamond quilting is not decoration — the smaller chambers hold the down more evenly, which is why the jacket looks tailored rather than inflated. It layers under a shell; it is not meant to be the outer layer in weather.

Japanese sizing runs closer to the body than European. Between sizes, take the larger, or come in and we will fit it with you.
