Tips from X-Boundaries

• Fixed length is the trade for the weight. At 125g these are less than half what a telescopic aluminium pole weighs — but you must pick the right size, because you cannot change it later.
• A rough guide: 100cm suits roughly up to 160cm tall, 105cm to about 170cm, 113cm to about 180cm, 120cm above that. Come in and hold one if you are near a boundary — elbow at 90 degrees with the tip on the ground is the check.
• Packed at 29–34cm these go inside a daypack rather than strapped to the outside. That is the difference on a flight or a crowded train.
• Carbon is light and stiff but it does not bend before it breaks the way aluminium does. Do not use them to lever yourself off a rock or wedge them in a crack.
• If you want an adjustable pole instead, the T Grip Anti Shock covers 80–100cm on a twist lock — heavier at 240g, but one pole fits everyone.
