Two garments that work as three. An outer shell in matte nylon, an inner fleece liner, and the pair together when the weather turns — for less weight than most people carry as two separate jackets.
Specification
- Outer shell: 40-denier full dull nylon taffeta, PFAS-free water-repellent finish
- Inner liner: CLIMAAIR LIGHT, 100% polyester fleece
- Weight: 326 g for both pieces; 336 g including the stuff sack
- Model: 1106826
Features
- Three ways to wear it — shell alone, fleece alone, or both together
- Zipped chest pocket on the outer shell
- Fleece liner wears as a standalone midlayer
- PFAS-free water repellency — no perfluorinated chemistry
Care & Maintenance
Two pieces, two jobs. Wash them separately.
Outer shell
- Machine wash cold, gentle cycle, mild detergent. No fabric softener
- Hang to dry away from direct sunlight. Do not iron
- The PFAS-free finish wears with use. A wash-in or spray-on DWR treatment restores it
Fleece liner
- Machine wash warm, gentle cycle. No fabric softener — it mats the pile
- Low heat tumble dry or hang. Do not iron
- Wash inside out with the zips closed to reduce pilling
This is our general guidance for shell and fleece garments. Check the care labels in both pieces for the definitive instructions.
Tips from X-Boundaries
Worth being straight about the shell: it is water-repellent, not waterproof. It sheds a passing shower and cuts wind. It is not a substitute for a hardshell in sustained rain — if that is the trip, ask us about our waterproof shells.
The value here is the maths. Buying a light shell and a fleece separately costs more, weighs more, and gives you two things to pack. This gives you three configurations from 326 g, which covers most of what a shoulder-season trip throws at you.
In Singapore, the fleece alone is the piece you will use most — office air-conditioning, evening on the water, early flights. The shell earns its keep the moment you land somewhere with weather.
Japanese sizing runs closer to the body than European. Size up if you are between two, or if you plan to wear both layers over a thick base.
